Occupational lung disease
  • Exposure to dusts, gases, vapours and fumes at work can lead to:
    • Acute bronchitis and pulmonary oedema from irritants, e.g. SO2, chlorine
    • Pulmonary fibrosis due to mineral dust, e.g. coal
    • Occupational asthma
    • Extrinsic allergic bronchiolar alveolitis
    • Bronchial  carcinoma due to industrial agents, e.g. asbestos, radon
