If there is too much Ca2+:
- THYROID gland produces CALCITONIN
- Calcitonin
- Deposition into bone
- Decreased absorption by kidneys
If there is too little Ca2+
- PARATHYROID gland produces PARATHYROID HORMONE
- Parathyroid hormone
- Absorption from bone
- Increased absorption from kidneys
- Kidneys also activate Vitamin D
- Vitamin D increases absorption from intestine
