Autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura
- Follows viral infection in children (acute)
- Idiopathic in adult women (chronic)
- 60% have anti-platelet antibodies
- Purpuric rash
- Epistaxis and menorrhagia
- Treat with steroids/splenectomy
Thrombocytosis
- High platelet count
- Haemorrhage
- Inflammation (any site)
- Essential thrombocythaemia
