Autoimmune hepatitis

Epidemiology

• Female > Male
• Associated with other autoimmune disease

Clinical features

• May be asymptomatic
• Jaundice
• Bruising
• Signs of acute or chronic liver disease

Investigations

• Antinuclear antibodies (Type 1)
• Anti-smooth muscle antibodies (Type 1)
• Antimitochondrial antibodies (Type 1)
• Anti-liver/kidney microsomal antibodies (Type 2)
• Anti-liver cytosol antibodies (Type 2)

Management

• Steroids/azathioprine
